Our Mission
Commissioned by the Gospel that welcomes all people into the family of God, Canterbury Student Ministry creates space for you to belong, to seek Jesus with a spirit of openness and vulnerability, and to know God’s love through prayer and worship in the Episcopal tradition.

Gospel-based.
As a ministry of the Episcopal Church, CSM is a community rooted in the Good News that Jesus lived, died, and rose again, defeating death and ushering in the Kingdom of God. Our ministry strives to form disciples of Christ that live out that Gospel in college and beyond.
Table-centered.
On the night before he died, Jesus sat at table with his friends. This transformative act of hospitality is the meal that feeds CSM and informs how we live in community. We come to know Christ through the breaking of bread. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion at Epsicopal liturgies.
Open to all.
Paul’s letter to the Galatians tells us that we are all one in Jesus Christ. We believe that God has called each and every one of us to know Jesus and to follow him. CSM welcomes everyone, period. This is a safe space for seekers of all faith backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
Our Leadership
Canterbury Student Ministry is led by our Campus Missioner and guided by the Student Vestry, headed by the Student Warden.

Campus Missioner
Passionate about sharing the joy found in Jesus, Father David serves as the pastor for CSM. Born and raised in Atlanta, Fr. David attended Centre College (B.A., Religion) and the University of the South (M.Div.) before coming to Rome. He is joined in ministry by his wife, Sarah, and his two Bichons, Teddy and Pearl.

Student Warden
I am a junior Animal Science major with a double minor in Chemistry and One Health. I am cradle-Episcopalian who attended St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Snellville, Georgia until I came to Berry College. Once I reached Berry, I began to attend St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Rome, Georgia with the other members of Canterbury Student Ministries. Through Canterbury Student Ministries, I have grown closer to God and have become more introspective about my faith. My goal as the Student Warden is to help guide the members of Canterbury Student Ministries towards a closer relationship with God and to help them discern how to best live their Christian life in a modern world. Outside of Canterbury Student Ministries, I am involved with Block and Bridle, Pre-Vet Club, Alpha Zeta, and serve as a peer tutor for biology and animal science classes in The Commons.
